This item has been refurbished. The original fault was that a surge had taken out the previous LED driver, by closing the MOV (metal oxide varistor) and blowing the fuse. The idea of this normally is to protect the board. Ironically because the LED driver is epoxy filled it makes the old unit unrepairable.
To repair this we have replaced the LED driver with a new unit. We have also installed a littlefuse LSP10277S which is a fantastic quality surge arrestor. If this fails (after years of being exposed to surge conditions) the light will go out but it will protect the LED driver. The surge arrestor is good quality, however it is cost effective to replace in the future, making this the ultimate in reliable and sustainable lighting!
I am happy to stamp this light with a 2 year return to base warranty on the electrical components because I am confident this light will last a long time.
