Replacement COB LED Chip for Haneco Detail 9W 4000K Downlight

If just one of your Haneco Detail downlights has failed, replacing the chip is a good alternative to buying new downlights. When a downlight goes dark, flickers or dims while the driver still works, the COB chip is often the part that has failed. This chip is a suitable replacement for the 4000K COB used in the Haneco Detail 9W downlight, at a fraction of the cost of a new fitting.

Why this chip

  • Rated to 600 mA, so at the 240 mA your driver supplies it’s lightly loaded and should run cooler and last longer than the original chip.
  • Its higher lumens per watt means it could also be brighter than the original.
  • Colour temperature is 4000K, but it may not be an exact match to your existing downlights, so it’s best to replace pairs or groups together if the colour has to match.
  • Dimming depends on your driver. If the downlight dimmed before, this chip should still dim with it.

Specifications

  • Type: COB LED chip on mirror aluminium base, 13.5 x 13.5 x 1.6 mm
  • Light-emitting surface: Ø9.8 mm
  • Colour temperature: 4000K (neutral white), CRI 80+
  • Rated 36V typical, 600 mA maximum
  • Suits 36V 240 mA (about 9W) constant-current drivers
  • Operating temperature: -40°C to +85°C (board temperature)
  • Chip only. Holder, driver, reflector, heatsink and housing are not included.

Before you order
Check the old chip is 13.5 mm square with a Ø9.8 mm light-emitting surface, and that your driver is a constant-current type rated around 240 mA. Message us a photo of your old chip if you’re unsure.

Fitting

  • Soldering: Keep the iron at or below 350°C and solder each joint for no more than 5 seconds. Avoid pressing on the yellow surface while you work.
  • Thermal paste: Spread a thin, even layer across the whole base of the chip so it sits flat against the heatsink, with no gaps or lumps. Poor contact is the main cause of early failure.
